Plainfield East High School students in Rebecca Elliott's Spanish 2 class read a short story in Spanish about the monarch butterfly migration and summarized what they learned on a template of a monarch.
The students then colored, cut and added the monarch to the ofrenda.
Monarchs are often incorporated in the Día de los Muertos celebration.
Students in the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and the Spanish Honor Society also helped with the Día de los Muertos display in the media center and the Native American Heritage Display near the main office.
