Lessons & Events

All Counselors provide lessons to our students in both small and large groups.  Students may make appointments with their assigned counselor for individual appointments.  The district also provides evening events for both students and parents.  Information regarding past lessons and or presentations can be found below.

Freshmen (August 20)   Joint presentation with PSHS deans on school expectations and support services that are offered at school. Counselor portion of Who's Who can be found here

Seniors & Parents (September 5) Senior College Night!  7PM at PSHS.  Come and learn about the process.  English presentation in the Auditorium.  Spanish presentation in the Media Center.

Seniors (September 5 - 11)  Completing college applications and how to request transcripts through Naviance.   Mrs. Ursetta, College Career Counselor, will be meeting with seniors during the English class period to present this information.  Transcript Release Form.  Scholarship Search Tips.  

All grade levels (September 13)  OVERSCHEDULED STUDENTS (and FRAZZLED PARENTS) - Preparing your Child for a Competitive World Without Losing Your Sanity.  Presentation will start at 6:30 PM at Plainfield NORTH High School's auditorium.

All grade levels (September 19)  District 202's College Fair & Financial Aid Presentation at Plainfield NORTH High School.  Visit over 140 college and university representatives from around the country.  Two financial aid sessions will be available in both English and Spanish.  The sessions are from 6PM to 6:45PM, and 7:15PM to 8PM.

All grade levels (October 17)  College Fair at Joliet Junior College at JJC's main campus from 6PM to 8PM.  Visit with over 140 college and university representatives from around the country.  

All grade levels (October 24)  Conquering College Costs at Plainfield EAST High School in the auditorium from 7PM to 8PM.  Learn about tips and strategies on how to find affordable college options.

Freshmen (October 17)  Give Something Back Foundation at Plainfield CENTRAL High School in the auditorium from 6PM to 7PM.  This is a scholarship and mentoring program for students.

Sophomores (October 30 - November 15) Introduction to https://student.naviance.com   Students can log in to take the Career Interest Profiler and the Career Cluster Finder assessments.  

NEXT YEAR'S COURSES & OPTIONS presentations (Nov 27-28):  Current Freshmen, Current Sophomores, Current Juniors 

Grades 9, 10, and 11 (February 20)  Post High School Explorations Night at Plainfield NORTH High School from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.  Learn about two-year & four-year college options, skilled trades, military, NCAA, and much more!

All grade levels (February 26) Historically Black Colleges and Universities Fair will be hosted at Plainfield NORTH High School from 6pm to 8pm in the cafeteria.

All grade levels (February 27) "The Screen Zombie - How to Develop a Healthy Relationship with Social Media" hosted at Plainfield EAST starting at 6:30 PM.
