Word of the Day: Ramshackle (adjective)

Meaning: Poorly maintained or constructed and likely to fall down, fall apart, or collapse.

Tourists were shocked and saddened to see the ramshackle huts where the poorer residents of the island lived.

 

 CLUBS:

 “Did you forget to join Math Team?  If so, it is NOT too late!  See Mr. Sourile in room 313 for more information.  Freshmen are especially encouraged to come join us!  Also, for those who came to the introductory meeting, please be sure to join the appropriate Remind groups and fill out the Google Form as soon as possible!”   

DECA wants you to have a “BOO-TIFUL” Halloween.  Send your friends, teachers or colleagues a “BOO-GRAM” for Halloween for $1.00.  Boo-grams will be sold during all lunches in the cafeteria starting this Friday October 19th and will be sold through October 26th.  Come by and see what our “BOO’s” are all about.

 

KUDOS:

Amazing job to the Girls Swim Team at the Riverside -Brookfield Meet this past Wednesday.  Both JV & Varsity teams dominated the meet against Fenton High School and Riverside Brookfield High School.  Good Luck this weekend at the Meata Valley Meet !!

Congratulations to the Chess Team for defeating Romeoville 54.5 to 13.5.  Winning boards were: Dritan Imeri, Jakub Mardula, Aaron Kovacevic, Rey Lopez, Lee Foster, Brandon Carr, Josh Breland, and Austin Samec.  Great job! 

 

SPORTS:

Winter season tryouts for the dance team are October 22nd and 23rd in the dance studio.  See Coach Fisher in Room 102 for a tryout packet!

“For anyone interested in wrestling this year there will be a short meeting in 204 today after school.”

“Interested in trying out for the boys bowling team?  Tryouts will be on Monday and Tuesday from 3:30-5 at Town and Country Lanes.  You must be registered for a winter sport, and must also have a sports physical on file.  See Coach Zettergren with questions.”

 

STUDENT & COLLEGE NEWS:

Attention all junior and senior students- Student Services will host it’s 2nd annual resource fair on Monday, October 22nd.  We will host a variety of organizations including; colleges, both public and private, financial aid representatives, military members and local unions who can speak with you and assist in exploring post-secondary options!  The event will take place in your English class!
