Word of the Day: Imbroglio (adjective)

Meaning: A confusing, messy, or complicated situation often involving a disagreement.

Soap opera characters become entangled in one imbroglio after another, never learning from their mistakes.

 

CLUBS:

DECA has partnered with the MDA Association and is selling shamrocks to support their cause.  All donations will go directly to MDA.  Muscular Dystrophy affects 1 in every 5000 people, usually children. See any DECA student to make a donation to this worthy cause. 

Join us for American Sign Language Club Monday February 25 from 2:15-2:45 and again on Thursday from 2:15-2:45 in room 310 to learn how to sign “This is Me” from the greatest showman in ASL!  

Come join Future Educators Club at our next meeting after school on Tuesday, February 26th in Room 323! Hope to see you there!

Student Council will be meeting Monday after school in the 200RS.  We will be planning St. Baldrick’s events for next month as well as finalizing details about Prom.  New members always welcome!  Questions?  See Mrs. Scanlan or Mrs. Gardner

SPORTS:

Attention all boys’ volleyball players or those interested in trying out: there is an open gym this week (today) from 4:30-6:30 in the Main gym and one next week Monday (2/25) from 3:00-5:00 in the Main gym. Do not forget to register for tryouts and have a current physical on file! Tryouts are March 5th! See Coach Surbaugh with questions in room 413!

Boys tennis will have tryouts starting on Monday. If you have not already, please see Coach Black in room 110 for more information. Everyone must be registered on 8to18 and have a current physical turned in to the athletic office to try out.

 

ATTENTION FEMALE ATHLETES, interested in joining the softball team? Try-outs will be Monday February 25th and Tuesday February 26th in the fieldhouse from 4-5:30pm. See you there!

IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T HEARD:

The Dance Team is hosting the 2nd annual Dancing with the Cougars competition on Friday April 5th.  Team registration is now open until Friday March 8th.  No prior dance experience necessary!  Each team will be assigned Cougarette Coaches to help them come up with a routine for the competition in hopes to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.  See Coach Fisher in Room 102 with any questions. 

Our next coffeehouse is today in the Media Center during all lunch periods, and we’re happy to partner with Shades of South to bring you the very best in woke pastries. Come for the Oreo cake, stay for the puppy chow!  See you Friday! (and don’t forget your IDs!).

February is Black History Month and today we remember American author Frederick Douglass, who became a leader of the abolitionist movement and strong supporter of women’s suffrage. Douglass once said, “Without a struggle, there can be no progress.” Shades of South is partnering with the media center for the next Cougar Coffeehouse today. Come down during all lunch periods to purchase pastries and hot chocolate. Be sure to bring your ID!
